Hit By The COVID Pandemic, 5,000 Street Vendors In Pekanbaru Receive IDR 1.2 Million In Aid

PEKANBARU - Danrem 031 Wira Bima, Brigadier General M Syech Ismed handed over direct cash assistance of Rp. 1.2 million for 5,000 street vendors (PKL) and warung businesses in Pekanbaru City today.

"The total aid worth Rp 6 billion is only given to business actors who have never received government assistance for the micro MSME/BPUM program," said M Syech Ismed in Pekanbaru, Antara, Thursday, October 14.

For almost two years the COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on micro and small businesses. The government through the TNI provides direct cash assistance so that people can get back up in restoring their economy.

He said that, in general, this assistance was targeted at regencies and cities affected by PPKM Level IV in various regions in Indonesia. This assistance is provided according to the instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 27 and 28 of 2021.

"Cash assistance for street vendors and stall businesses, apart from being a compensation for economic losses due to restrictions (PPKM), is also a signal to revive the economy of the people at lower levels," he said.

Specifically in Pekanbaru City, the delivery of assistance was carried out by the Kodim 031 Pekanbaru to street vendors who must first be recorded. "By preparing all the regulations and the budget, the Pekanbaru Kodim will distribute them and continue on the fourth day with a large aid of IDR 1.2 million per head of family," he said.

This assistance is expected to be a cushion for the community for business capital and can return to business as before.

"We also thank all parties who have participated in the implementation of this activity and have been able to be used by the community," concluded Danrem.
