Minister Of Health Ensures Access To COVID-19 Vaccination For Bedouins

LEBAK - Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin ensured that access to COVID-19 vaccination for Badui residents, Lebak Regency, Banten, was available to form group immunity.

The Minister of Health said that until the end of the year, his party was pursuing a target of an additional 100 million recipients of COVID-19 vaccination, which is still difficult, one of which is indigenous people.

"They have the same right to be vaccinated. I'm trying my best, for both internal and external Baduis," said Budi in Lebak Regency, Banten, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 14.

Not only the Bedouin, the Minister of Health said that his party would cooperate with other remote and traditional indigenous communities to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We have to vaccinate them without damaging their social fabric because they have their own understanding and understanding that we must respect," he said.

The Minister of Health mentions in the third category the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), he mentions promoting health and well-being for all people and ages.

According to him, this goal shows the philosophy that all groups have the same right to health and welfare.

On the other hand, the Minister of Health said that his party was working hard to get indigenous people to be vaccinated against COVID-19. He believes that with good communication, solving the problem will work.

"Later I will try to enter (Bedouin) to see, if we can be sure, hopefully our friends inside can be invited to cooperate with vaccinations," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cisimeut Village Health Center, Dr Maytri, revealed that at the COVID-19 vaccination event on October 14-15, the target of 1,000 people was to be vaccinated. The vaccination target includes 200 Bedouin residents who already have a Population Identification Number (NIK).

The Bedouin vaccination target for the age of 12 and over is 8,475 people, because as of 2020 there are 11,980 people recorded.

"Not all Bedouins have ID cards, but we are with Disdukcapil, Alhamdulillah, they are happy, not forced, want to be vaccinated," he said.
