Foreign Media Writes Opinion On Jakarta Azan Sound Called Noisy, Deputy Governor: No Problem

JAKARTA - Foreign media AFP wrote an article about the opinion of a Jakarta resident who complained about the call to prayer in his area. AFP interviewed a resident named Rina (not her real name).

AFP reported that Rina thought that the call to prayer in Jakarta was too noisy, which disturbed her comfort and made it difficult for her to sleep. However, Rina was afraid to express her complaint for fear of being attacked by local residents.

In response to this, the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, asked his citizens not to take issue with the call to prayer in the capital. Because this has been going on for a long time.

"So every time our grandmothers, our ancestors have had the call to prayer. So there's no need to worry about it, so it can be immediately conveyed that this is Indonesia, which is predominantly Muslim, so that every prayer hour there is always a call to prayer," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Thursday. , October 14th.

Therefore, Riza asked all religious people in Jakarta to respect each other, including the call to prayer for Muslims.

"So I think it's not a problem. Entering the mosque, takmil people, the assembly, all also understand the boundaries, I think it's not a problem," he said.

Riza also responded to Rina's complaint as reported by AFP. He admitted that his party would check Rina's place of residence.

"Later we will check where the complainant is, which region. Please, this is a large and very democratic country, we respect each other, and the call to prayer does not linger for only a few minutes," he explained.
