In the video, the police officer hits the man until he falls. Deli Serdang Police Chief, Kombes Yemi Mandagi confirmed the incident. The police officer on duty at the Deli Serdang Satlantas Polresta was named Aipda Gonsalves.
Meanwhile, the resident who became the victim was a motorcycle rider named Andi Gultom.
"On Wednesday, October 13, at around 11.00 WIB, (at that time) Deli Serdang Satlantas personnel were at the Cemara intersection carrying out their duties," said Kombes Yemi when describing the incident at the Deli Serdang Police Headquarters, Thursday, October 14. .
At that time, said Yemi, there was a difference of understanding between the two. Then, Aipda Gonsalves hit Andi Gultom.
"Finally caused our personnel to beat Andi Gultom's brother by Aipda Gonsalves," said Yemi.
However, Kombes Yemi did not explain in detail the cause of the dispute between the two. After the incident, Yemi said that her party had visited the victim and promised to cover Andi Gultom's medical expenses.
Representing the Indonesian National Police, Kombes Yemi apologized to the community and the families of the victims.
"Friends and colleagues, especially the family of Andi Gultom, on behalf of the leadership, the North Sumatra Police, the Regional Police Chief, the Deli Serdang Police Chief, apologize profusely to the family," he said.
Regarding Aipda Gonsalves, Yemi said that his party was immediately deactivated as a Satlantas personnel.
"I deactivated Aipda Gonsalves as a traffic member, in the context of an inspection at the Deli Serdang Police Propam," he said.
To his staff, Yemi advised that this act would not be repeated. Because the police should be the protector of the community.
"This is a valuable lesson for these ranks, not to happen again. Because this action hurts people's hearts," said Yemi.
