Because His Wife's Money Was Used To Buy Lottery, Madura Hit Efendi's Head With Wood Until He Died
JAKARTA - Effendi (49), a resident of Talang Seleman Village, Payaraman Ogan Ilir District, South Sumatra, died after being hit on the head with a wood by the perpetrator named Madura (34), a resident of the same village, Wednesday, October 13 at around 12.00 WIB.
Madura hit the victim allegedly because he was offended by his wife's money which was taken by Effendi amounting to Rp. 200,000, which was instead used to buy a lottery.
Police Chief Ogan Ilir AKBP Yusantiyo Sandy said in a press release that the incident began when Effendi was chatting with Madura at a hut in a local village. Then Madura asked about the money Effendi had taken on his orders the day before.
"However, the victim answered in a rather high-pitched tone with a threatening tone to the suspect by saying, 'Cak is against you' (how dare you), getting an answer like that, the suspect spontaneously took a piece of wood and hit it on the victim's head, causing the victim to immediately fall down," said AKBP Yusantiyo. Sandy was reported by humas.polri.go.id, Thursday, October 14.
Seeing the victim fell, Madura immediately fled. Then, residents came to help Effendi to get medical treatment. However, the victim's life could not be saved and died in a hospital in Indralaya.
The perpetrator was then arrested at around 18.30 WIB. He was arrested at his parents' residence.
"Immediately, police personnel led by the Deputy Chief of the Tanjung Batu Police, Iptu Roland, moved to Hamlet 2, Tanjung Lalang Village, where the parents of the perpetrators lived, and secured the perpetrators without a fight," said Yusantiyo Sandhy.
