Hidayat Nur Wahid: This Is An Opportunity For The Police To Protect People's Trust

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI, Hidayat Nur Wahid (HNW) asked the Police to take firm action against the officers who slammed student protesters into seizures in Tangerang yesterday. This must be done in order to maintain people's trust in the Bhayangkara Corps.

According to him, strict action and sanctions against police officers are also important as a manifestation of fair law enforcement. Hidayat said, the brutal actions of these officers added to the black list of the police as protectors of the community. Previously, he was considered to have committed extrajudicial killings of some of Rizieq Shihab's bodyguards some time ago.

Therefore, the senior PKS politician is waiting for the firm leadership of the National Police to seriously impose severe sanctions on the student bully who is known to have the initials Brigadier NP from the Tangerang Police.

"We are waiting for this promise (firm sanctions, ed) to be realized soon. Also firm legal sanctions against police elements which Komnas HAM calls unlawful killing of 5 martyrs who are bodyguards from FPI," said Hidayat.

It is known that a viral video showed a student who was slammed by the police during a demonstration in Tangerang Regency on Wednesday, October 13, yesterday. After that, a follow-up video circulated showing the student giving a press statement about his condition. He was accompanied by a member of the police from the Tangerang Police. When giving information via video, the student occasionally grabbed the nape of his neck. He made sure that his condition was fine, even though he felt sore after being slammed. "The name is Faris from Himaka Banten. I don't have epilepsy, I also don't die, now I'm still alive. In normal condition, although a little sore, " he said in the video. Most recently, a police officer with the initials NP apologized for his brutal actions. The Tangerang Police Opsnal personnel are now undergoing the process of being examined by the Propam Division of the National Police Headquarters.
