JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Bukhori Yusuf, criticized the actions of the police officers who slammed students during a demonstration in Tangerang Regency. He considered that the brutal action of the viral person was an excessive and inhuman act. "There were two serious violations committed by this person," Bukhori told reporters, Thursday, October 14. "Secondly, the violation of the law for acts of violence," said the PKS politician.
The commission member who is in partnership with the National Police regrets that the recent case adds to the dark record of the Bhayangkara Corps at the age of 75. Moreover, he said, data from the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) in its report entitled "The Bhayangkara Report" "He said that during June 2020 to May 2021, there were 651 cases of violence perpetrated by members of the police. The violence against civilians occurred at various levels. In detail, as many as 399 cases of violence were carried out by officers at the resort police (Polres) level. Furthermore, the regional police (Polda) followed in second place with 135 cases. While perched in the last position is the sector police (polsek) with a total of 117 cases.
"I hope this violence will be the last and a serious note for the National Police Chief," concluded Bukhori.
