Supporting Batam-Bintan Electricity Resilience, Pertamina Gas Subholding Meets Baloi PLTMG Gas Needs
JAKARTA - PT PGN (Persero) will distribute gas to the Baloi Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG), Batam. The gas is routed through a 100-meter steel pipe, which can be completed in four weeks.
The Baloi PLTMG which was built in March 2021 is part of PT PLN Batam which will support the electricity system in the Batam and Bintan areas. The need for natural gas volume is gradual and in the fourth quarter of 2021 is 1-5 BBTUD.
The operation of the Baloi PLTMG will increase electricity production up to 30 MW, starting in December 2021 and reduce the use of oil-fueled power plants.
The initial gas distribution was carried out at the end of September 2021 and sourced from ConocoPhilips (Grissik) Ltd. (CPNGL), with gas prices according to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree 135/2021.
PGN's Director of Sales and Operations, Faris Aziz explained that PGN is committed to providing reliable gas supply, considering its need to be used to increase power generation capacity.
"There is a price policy from the government in accordance with ESDM 135/2021, it is hoped that it can be allocated to the maximum and can feel the real benefits. PGN, as a gas subholding and part of Holding PT Pertamina (Persero), is committed to making the electricity sector one of the mainstays of the electricity sector. of PGN's priority programs.
In terms of volume, the electricity sector has the largest share of natural gas absorption. Therefore, PGN continues to develop infrastructure and improve the quality of natural gas services for reliable electrical energy throughout Indonesia and to create clean and green energy.
