BNN Destroys 5,000 Cannabis And 20 Thousand Seeds Weighing 3 Tons In North Aceh, Perpetrators Escape

ACEH - The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed four hectares of marijuana fields located in Cot Lawatu Hamlet, Sawang Village, Sawang District, North Aceh Regency, Aceh.

Director of Narcotics, Deputy for Eradication of BNN, Brigadier General Aldrin Hutabarat, said that there were 5,000 marijuana stalks and 20 thousand marijuana seeds, weighing up to three tons.

"This cannabis plant is destroyed by pulling it out and burning it. The height of the plant varies from 20 to 300 centimeters with a spacing of about 50 to 100 centimeters," said Aldrin Hutabarat in North Aceh, Antara, Wednesday, October 13.

The extermination operation involved a joint team of 103 personnel. Consists of BNN, TNI, Polri, Satpol PP, and the prosecutor's office. Aldrin continued, previously on October 4, 2021, the BNN team conducted an investigation into the alleged cultivation of marijuana in the area.

"After investigating the location, the team found a location for a marijuana field with an area of four hectares. However, officers did not find the culprit," he said.

The location of the fields, he said, is difficult to reach and pass by vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled. The location of the marijuana fields is located on a hillside with a slope of 10 to 45 degrees. The distance is 30 minutes on foot.

"Even though they did not catch the suspect, those who planted narcotics could be charged with the death penalty or life imprisonment," said Brigadier General Aldrin Hutabarat.
