JAKARTA - The Senen Police Criminal Investigation Unit has uncovered a motorcycle theft case using a new mode. The perpetrator used a lighter to break the ignition of the motorcycle he was about to steal.

It was later discovered that the perpetrator had the initials JK. He has committed 7 motorcycle thefts in the Central Jakarta area.

Senen Police Chief Kompol Ari Susanto confirmed that the modus operandi used by the perpetrators when stealing the motorbike was a new mode.

"A match is plugged in a small iron rod and then heated to pry out the socket of the stolen motorbike. This is a new mode," he told VOI, Wednesday, October 13.

The perpetrator designed the device to launch his theft. The tool caught the officers off guard, but when we examined it, it turned out that the tool was used as a motorcycle key dismantling.

"If the knife operation is not affected because it can be removed again. We will develop the perpetrator, from his confession he has stolen a motorbike 7 times," he said.

The perpetrator JK is an active drug user. When questioned by the police, the descriptions of the perpetrators were different.

"He is still addicted to drugs, after a urine test the results were positive. We will also develop the drugs," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Senen Police, AKP Bambang, said that the perpetrator was a recidivist. He has been arrested twice for possession of sharp weapons and theft.

While related to the tools used by the perpetrators to steal the motorbike, the perpetrators modified the assembled letter T key which was changed again.

"He is after a motorbike that is easy to pick up and whose parking is not monitored by the owner. The perpetrator sold the stolen motorbike for Rp. 3 million per unit," said Kanit.

Until now, the perpetrators are still being developed to capture other networks, including the looters of stolen goods.

"Yesterday there were initials, we are investigating in the West Jakarta area. After getting a (stolen motorbike), usually the perpetrators directly contact the seller and make transactions. We are investigating the network of the perpetrators. The perpetrators are charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code," he said.
