Aqueduct Pile In Kwitang Landslides Due To Fiber Optic Cable Theft

JAKARTA - The water channel plaster on Jalan Kramat Kwitang, Kwitang Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta was found damaged due to the theft of underground cables.

"Reports from field officers stated that the pavement collapsed because the water channel under the sheet pile had been destroyed. As a result of excavation by an irresponsible party to steal the cable," said Head of Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-Department Maintenance, Achmad Daeroby, when contacted by reporters, Wednesday 13 October.

Daeroby admitted that there were a lot of utility cables under the sidewalk. He will also repair the channel with the installation of u-Ditch.

The discovery of this landslide channel stems from a report from residents who asked for channel repairs. This check is also carried out from the SDA Sub-Department and Bina Marga Sub-Department. Due to the condition of the plastered water channel being destroyed, the SDA Sub-Department completed it.

"For the work, we mobilized 20 people with the help of an excavator to lift the u-Ditch so as to speed up the work. Currently, the installation progress has reached 40 percent," he said.

He added that the plan to repair the 12-meter-long canal will be installed with a u-ditch measuring 80 centimeters long, 60 centimeters wide and 120 centimeters high. The channel will also be elevated by about 1.15 meters.
