There Will Be Many Surprises At The Andalusian GP
JAKARTA - The Jerez Circuit will again host the second series race, the Andalusian Grand Prix this weekend. Competition for MotoGP riders will heat up again.
Despite the injuries and still recovering from surgery, Marc Marquez, Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow are adamant about taking part. They don't want to miss a single competition on the busy season calendar amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The three riders were declared fit for the race this weekend.
One thing that was seen in the opening series last weekend was how tight the competition in the premier class this year. Yamaha, Ducati and KTM were involved in a fierce battle for the podium when Honda lost Marquez who fell four laps to the finish.
Last week's runner-up, Maverick Vinales realized that most teams and riders have a lot of experience at Jerez and everything is fast there.
"That's why it's important to start in the front position, push and try to make distance from the start because in the last laps a lot of riders go fast. Many manufacturers can win races but we still have to improve for this second race," Vinales was quoted as saying from Antara, Friday.
The one that threatened the Yamaha racer in the 2020 opening series was Jack Miller. The Australian rider could have presented the podium for the Pramac Racing team if he was able to overcome the last sector of the circuit and the problems at hand he felt in the last half of the race.
"I struggled with my hands, I think it's about the position on the handlebar. The GP20 is working very well, my riding style in the last sector is the biggest problem, if we can overcome that I think we can be a challenger," said Miller.
Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo will not be satisfied with just one win. The French rider immediately after celebrating, he and his team immediately discussed what they needed to improve for the second race at Jerez.
"I didn't have much pressure to win my first race but as soon as I won I felt pressure," said Quartararo.
"It's very positive but in the end the first thing I did after taking pictures and everything was briefing my team to get a lot better, trying to find some small details to make a difference even more and we will try to do our best again this weekend. . "
Quartararo is currently leading the riders' points standings after taking his first victory in the premier class. Vinales followed the Yamaha satellite team racer in second place with a five point difference, and Dovizioso occupied third place with 16 points.
