Blackspot Area Becomes The Focus Of Securing Christmas And New Year
JAKARTA - Ahead of the 2019 Christmas and 2020 New Year celebrations, a number of intensive preparations have been made. The security and traffic sectors are the focus of attention. Because it is undeniable that before and after the two big day celebrations, community mobility will be monitored quite high.
The Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate has mapped a number of blackspots or accident-prone areas. About 28 points are in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings. Kombes Yusuf said that the mapping of dozens of blackspot areas was based on data from 2018. At that location there was a traffic accident which killed 11 people.
"A blackspot is a place where with a radius of 500 meters, traffic accidents often occur, especially those that result in fatalities," Yusuf said in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 18.
Several blackspot areas were also reviewed in order to calculate the personnel who would later be alerted. Some of these locations include Jalan Iskandar Muda in South Jakarta, Jalan Tubagus Angke West Jakarta, Jalan Angkasa Jakarta Pusat, and Jalan RE Martadinata in North Jakarta.
With the presence of personnel on alert throughout the blackspot area, it is hoped that it can reduce the number of accidents. Moreover, two- and four-wheeled riders will be more careful when there is guarding from the police and related agencies.
"Before we determine the floating members, we determine which locations we must carry out security measures," said Yusuf.
