Anies Was Again Asked About Plans After Leaving Office, Now The Answer Is Actually This

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, was again asked about the plans he would carry out after stepping down from his position in October 2022.

If in the same question before, Anies answered that he would travel around Indonesia. However, now, Anies said that he would only focus on completing his responsibilities for the next year.

"Now we have finished all of these responsibilities," said Anies when met after holding an assembly for the rainy season at the National Monument, Wednesday, October 13.

The former Minister of Education and Culture did not want to explain what his political steps were going forward. He only said that currently DKI will face the rainy season. Then, the DKI Provincial Government will anticipate the impact of the floods that will occur.

"Still facing the rainy season. The apples are for the rainy season. We'll do that first," he said briefly.

Previously, while attending a party event, namely the PAN workshop in Bali on October 4, Anies admitted that he had plans to travel around Indonesia after his tenure in Jakarta ended in October 2022.

"What I have in mind, this (position) is completed. After that, I became a free person. While I was a free person, I enjoyed traveling everywhere. Yesterday, I was in prison for five years. Just go around, everywhere in Indonesia," said Anies while talking at the PAN workshop.

Anies prepared this trip plan due to the fact that the schedule for the next DKI gubernatorial election will be held in 2024, simultaneously in the national election. In fact, if the DKI Regional Head Elections are continued in 2022, Anies is already preparing to run for re-election.

The initial plan was that Anies focused on managing the capital for four years in charge. Then, in his fifth year, he began to prepare his candidacy for governor of DKI until the campaign.

"So, in Jakarta for 3 years or 4 years now, I will concentrate on that. In the past, the plan was for the fifth year to prepare for the elections," said Anies.

"It turns out that there won't be an election next year. Because there's no election, so that's it. We'll just keep working like that. Right, there won't be a campaign next year," he continued.
