A Brawl Between Groups Breaks Out In Makassar, The Police Search The Command Post Which Was Used As The Perpetrator's Basecamp
MAKASSAR - Makassar Police have arrested 20 people suspected of being involved in inter-group brawls in Tallo and Bontoala sub-districts, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.
Head of Operations Section (Kabagop) of Makassar Polrestabes Kompol Nugraha said his party had brought together the two warring groups so that there would be no brawl. However, the two groups clashed.
"We were given peace, but it only lasted a few days and then another brawl," he said, in Makassar, Wednesday, October 13.
Finally, the police carried out raids in a number of locations that are often used as gathering places for brawlers. In that place a number of sharp weapons of various types were found.
This operation, said Nugraha, is aimed at pursuing and arresting the perpetrators of brawls that often occur in the Bontoala and Tallo sub-districts.
"From tonight's activity, a joint team from the Polsek, Makassar Polrestabes and the South Sulawesi Police arrested about 20 people suspected of being the perpetrators of brawls in the two sub-districts," said Nugraha.
The brawl in the two sub-districts, he continued, has greatly disturbed the community around the location because many residents have suffered casualties.
"When we searched the location where they were hanging out, we found various types of sharp weapons ranging from arrows, modified catapults to spears made of sharp bamboo and iron," he said.
Furthermore, dozens of suspected brawlers from each group together with their evidence were brought to the Makassar Police Headquarters for examination and data collection.
