PON Papua Today Wins 72 Gold From 12 Sports, Boxing Becomes Medal Field

JAKARTA - A total of 72 gold medals will be contested in a series of matches and competitions for the PON Papua on the eleventh day since it was officially opened last October 2 by President Joko Widodo.

Launching Antara, on Wednesday, October 13, boxing became the most medal field for gold with 17 medals from the 17 male and female numbers that were competed today.

In Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency, nine sports will compete for 40 gold medals, consisting of four gold medals from weightlifting, 2 gold medals each from rowing, diving and sea diving.

Then, 5 gold medals each from badminton and karate, 7 gold medals each from shooting and shorinji kempo, while another 6 gold medals will be mined in swimming. Boxing became the most gold field today with 17 gold medals.

In Mimika Regency, athletics will compete for 7 gold medals, while in the Merauke Regency cluster, 5 gold medals will be competed in chess and another 3 gold medals will be in wrestling.
