7 Hectares Of Forest And Land Krueng Simpoe Aceh Burned

JAKARTA – Land and forest fires (karhutla) occurred in Krueng Simpo Village, Juli District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh.

The Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) reported that the forest and land fires had an impact on an area of 7 hectares in the area bordering Bener Meriah Regency.

Information from the Head of Mina Hamlet stated that the affected area consisted of government-owned land covering an area of 2 hectares and the rest belonged to the community. The fire and forest fires were only discovered by residents when the fire had burned about 1 hectare of vacant land owned by the local government.

According to the Bireuen Regency BPBD Operations Control Center, the hotspots have been successfully extinguished. After the hotspots were successfully extinguished, joint officers carried out cooling to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. BPBD officers are still updating the total area affected after the blackout.

It was observed from several satellite images with a high level of confidence, such as Landsat-8, SNPP, NOAA20, and Terra/Aqua, no hot spots or hot spots were observed in the Aceh region. However, local governments need to increase their preparedness, especially efforts to prevent forest and land fires from spreading.

The level of flammability in the upper layers of the soil surface as informed by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), several areas in Aceh, including Bireuen Regency, are in the category of flammable and highly flammable.

Meanwhile, based on data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the temporary recapitulation of the area of forest and land fires in Aceh Province this year has reached 681 hectares.
