Police Chief Sigit's Strict Order For Regional Police: Anticipate COVID-19 Growth Amid Easing

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has asked all regional police officers to evaluate the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

This was conveyed by the National Police Chief Sigit when giving a briefing. In his briefing, Sigit emphasized to all his staff to continue to prepare all efforts and anticipations to prevent a spike in the growth rate of COVID-19, in the midst of an easing of community activities. It is known that the daily active cases of the corona virus have decreased.

"Prepare anticipatory measures for easing so that there will not be another spike in cases," said Sigit while giving a briefing to all Polda ranks, Tuesday, October 12.

According to Sigit, one of the efforts to prevent the growth rate of COVID-19 and prepare for the transition from a pandemic to an endemic is to continue to tighten health protocols (prokes), through 3M (wearing masks, washing hands and maintaining distance), strengthening 3T ( Tracing, Testing and Treatment) and acceleration of vaccination.

In anticipating a spike in the midst of easing community activities, Sigit asked all Polda ranks to maximize the PeduliLindung application. The platform must be provided in all lines of citizen activity centers. Thus, the acceleration of community vaccination can be maximized.

"Maximize the use of the PeduliLindung application. Supervision of the community by using the PeduliLindung application. If yellow or red categories are found, provide vaccine services by providing vaccination booths and mobile vaccines," said the former Police Criminal Investigation Officer.

Furthermore, Sigit also stated the need for early anticipation to prevent the entry of new variants of Covid-19 such as MU and Lamda from abroad caused by Foreign Travel Actors (PPLN).

Regarding the Government's policy of planning to open the door for foreign tourists and Indonesian citizens returning from abroad, Sigit hopes that there will be extra tight anticipation and supervision of the handling of Covid-19. Sigit said, there are still some problems that occur for the technical management of quarantine.

"Please check again what the security system is like, especially if the SOP has been opened, it is really being implemented. Don't then ignore it, be careless and what we've been doing all this time is in vain. so that everything can be controlled," said Sigit.

Anticipation and proper handling, said Sigit also to prepare for an international event in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), namely the holding of the World Super Bike Championships (WSBK). According to Sigit, with the maximum handling and control of Covid-19, the holding of the world event will have a positive effect on economic growth. And, the name of Indonesia will be fragrant in the eyes of the world, because it has succeeded in organizing WSBK, taking into account health factors in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

"NTB and several follow-up events in Bali are well prepared. If this can be managed properly, of course in the international eyes it will be better and of course other things such as economic growth," said Sigit.

Not only that, Sigit also appreciated all ranks who have worked hard to prevent the growth rate of the corona virus. In the future, he hopes to maintain this and asks for continued synergy with the TNI, local government and all elements of society.

"What happened is the result of the hard work of all members. Now the focus is on us TNI-Polri. But I am sure all colleagues will carry out well," concluded Sigit.
