Allegedly Blong Brakes, Overloading On An Incline Huut Cianjur, Truck Falls Into A 15 Meter Gorge
CIANJUR - A truck was involved in an accident that plunged it into a 15-meter deep ravine at Tanjakan Huut, Naringgul District, Cianjur, West Java. One person died and 2 others were seriously injured in this deadly incident.
The truck with the license plate number B 9475 JK is loaded with gabion wire. When entering the Huut Ascent, the driver could not control the speed of the vehicle until he finally plunged into a ravine.
"It is suspected that when entering the Huut Ascent the brakes did not work so the driver could not control the speed of the vehicle, so the truck plunged into a 15-meter deep ravine," said Naringgul Police Chief, AKP Yayan Suharyana when contacted, Antara, Tuesday, October 12.
The truck slid from Bandung to Sindangbarang. The truck driver named Choirul Mustofa (33) died on his way to the Naringgul Health Center due to serious injuries to his body.
Meanwhile, two other people, Feri Fs (29) and Kristanto (29), residents of DKI Jakarta, survived despite serious injuries to several parts of their bodies. Currently still undergoing treatment at the Naringgul Health Center.
Until late afternoon, the police were still trying to evacuate the carcass of the truck that had rolled over at the bottom of the ravine using heavy equipment, in coordination with the Cianjur Police Lakalantas Unit.
During the process, traffic flow is enforced by a one-way open and close system.
"We urge road users to ensure the vehicle's worthiness, especially when entering the Huut Ascent, which so far, single accidents often occur. Especially at this time, the weather often rains and thick fog covers the incline," he said.
While the testimony of a number of eyewitnesses stated that the speed of the truck had stalled when entering the uphill road, but the driver seemed to be forcing himself, until finally the truck lost control and immediately plunged into a ravine in a tumbling position.
Seeing the incident, residents rushed to the location to help the victim who was trapped in the wrecked truck cabin.
"One of them died on the way to the puskesmas, while the driver and other assistants were seriously injured and were immediately taken to the puskesmas, after being successfully evacuated from the truck. Almost every week a single accident occurs on this incline, we often urge road users, especially vehicles big, to be extra careful," said eye witness, Jajang.
