Still Recovering, Marquez Towards Jerez Hoping To Appear At The Andalusian Grand Prix

JAKARTA - Although he is still undergoing a post-surgery recovery process and a fractured humerus, Marc Marquez is reportedly returning to the Jerez Circuit, Spain and wants to participate in the Grand Prix of Andalusia this weekend.

The Repsol Honda team rider suffered a severe accident in the opening series of the MotoGP 2020 at the Jerez Circuit, Spain, four days ago. The accident fractured his right upper arm bone.

Marquez had surgery last Tuesday in Barcelona. MotoGP traumatologist Dr. Xavier Mir predicts that the Spanish racer may only be able to race for two more weeks in Brno, Czech Republic.

But the eight-time world champion didn't just give up. Reporting from Antara, Marquez is currently reportedly heading to Jerez for a medical check in hopes of being declared fit to participate in the Andalusian Grand Prix.

The Repsol Honda team tweeted, "After the successful operation on Tuesday, @ MarcMarquez93 is heading back to Jerez."

Apart from Marquez, Alex Rins (Suzuki Ecstar) and Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) also crashed last weekend in Jerez and hope to be back fit for the second series race later.

Rins dislocated his shoulder from a fall in qualifying, while Crutchlow could have had his first race of the season if he didn't fall during the pre-race warm-up and injured his scaphoid bone.

The Jerez Circuit will again hold races for the second time in a row this weekend when MotoGP restarts after being delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
