Oppo Rolls Out ColorOS 12 Globally, This Is A List Of Phones That Can Be Updated!

JAKARTA - Oppo has just released ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 globally. This latest operating system update will be delivered in stages by the end of 2022, and will be available for 52 Oppo smartphone models.

Meanwhile, the Oppo Find X3 Pro is the first smartphone to get ColorOS 12. The current launch only includes Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Oppo says it is trying to offer an experience that is as close to Android as possible. There are several different designs that guided the development of ColorOS 12, including productivity and privacy.

Citing CNET, Tuesday, October 12, ColorOS 12 integrates the new Android 12 privacy dashboard that lets users see which apps are using sensitive info like camera or location. A green dot will appear at the top right of the screen whenever the app uses the feature.

In addition, Oppo claims to comply with data regulations by storing and processing data on nearby servers rather than sending it to China. This comes as a growing list of countries express concerns about China's mobile phone use over longstanding concerns about privacy. As recently as recently, the Lithuanian government published a report urging people to throw away their Chinese cellphones.

Oppo said it had also worked with linguistic experts to localize text in 67 languages and allow users to translate between languages with the help of its smart sidebar without switching apps.

The company also added Omojis, which are customizable emoji from Apple, and can resemble users. Not only that, users can also add portrait silhouettes, a feature Oppo borrowed from OnePlus' Oxygen OS.

In terms of looks, ColorOS 12 has a cleaner feel than before, although the changes are subtle compared to ColorOS 5. Like, Oppo removed some pre-loaded apps and reduced information density across platforms.

Capabilities like PC Connect are also present in ColorOS 12 allowing users to connect their phone to a Windows desktop or laptop, and use it to control the phone. Interestingly, the company also guarantees three years of major Android updates for its flagship Find X series.
