September-December 2021, Social Minister Risma Distributes Compensation To Orphans Victims Of COVID In Banjarmasin
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) provides compensation to orphans in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan whose parents were left behind due to exposure to COVID-19. Assistance is given for 4 months in 2021.
"There are 16 orphans in this area whose parents died due to exposure to COVID-19," said Head of the Banjarmasin City Social Service, Iwan Ristianto in Banjarmasin as reported by Antara, Tuesday, October 12.
According to him, assistance (compensation) for orphans or orphans due to COVID-19 in Banjarmasin has been distributed since September 2021.
"This will continue until December 2021, meaning up to four months. In 2022 what is the policy, we will wait again," he said.
However, for now, 16 orphans and orphans in the city of Banjarmasin have been submitted to the Ministry of Social Affairs and they have received compensation of Rp. 200 thousand and Rp. 300 thousand per month.
"Compensation of Rp. 200 thousand for orphans who are already in school and Rp. 300 thousand for those who are not yet in school," he said.
Iwan said the compensation was directly transferred to the orphan's account through Bank Mandiri. Symbolically, said Iwan, the handover of this compensation was given by the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini during a working visit to South Kalimantan last month.
He asked the public, especially kelurahan, RW and RT to report if in their environment there were orphans whose parents died of COVID-19.
"As we go along we continue to look for this data," he said.
The COVID-19 pandemic in Banjarmasin City resulted in 540 deaths. COVID-19 cases in the city during the pandemic reached 15,828 people, of which 15,266 people managed to recover.
