JAKARTA - Chairman of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPCPEN) Airlangga Hartarto said that Indonesia's COVID-19 recovery index is currently the best in ASEAN. Based on Nikkei data, Indonesia's recovery index is at number 54. This is better than neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
"Indonesia's ranking as of October 6, 2021 is ranked 54, improving from the position on July 31 which is ranked 114 and the position on August 31 is ranked 92. This ranking position is also better than all other ASEAN countries, such as Singapore at rank 70, Malaysia at rank 102, and Thailand. ranking 109," said Airlangga during an online press conference, Monday, October 11.
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs added that the data also showed that the achievement of COVID-19 control in Indonesia was very good. Based on data from Johns Hopkins University, daily confirmed cases in Indonesia are 4.60 cases per 1 million population. This is much lower or better than other countries, such as Singapore (541.9 cases), the UK (525.3 cases), Malaysia (277.7 cases), and the Philippines (95.55 cases) per 1 million population.
Airlangga explained that there has been a decrease in active cases since the beginning of the implementation of PPKM Level 4 on August 9 in a number of islands in Indonesia. For example, Sumatra showed a decline of 94.10 percent, Nusa Tenggara with 95.26 percent, Kalimantan 93.18 percent, Sulawesi with 90.90 percent, and Maluku and Papua by 88.86 percent.
Meanwhile, the percentage decline in active cases nationally was at 94.55 percent. The General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP emphasized that there were no provinces outside Java-Bali that were included in the implementation of PPKM Level 4 in the past week. Although, it must be admitted that there are still three provinces that are included in PPKM Level 3, 22 provinces are at Level 2, and two provinces are already at Level 1. These two provinces are Riau Islands and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
"When viewed at the district/city level outside Java and Bali, there are 1 regencies/cities at Level 4, there are 38 regencies/cities at Level 3, as many as 278 regencies/cities at Level 2, and an increase in regencies/cities at Level 1 to 69 regencies/cities," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
In fact, last week there were 52 districts/cities implementing PPKM Level 1. Airlangga said that there was still one area that implemented PPKM Level 4, namely in Sabang City, due to the increasing number of deaths in the last few days.
However, the government assesses that the community transmission indicators in Sabang show good data. Namely confirmed cases and hospitalization at level 1.
