The Following Is The Response Of The Police When Densus 88 Is Called Busy Developing An Islamophobic Narrative
JAKARTA - The National Police responded to the statement of Gerindra Party politician Fadli Zon regarding the role of Densus 88 which is busy developing an Islamophobic narrative. The responses shown ranged from silence to not caring about the statement.
The Head of Banops Densus 88, Kombes Aswin Siregar, was the first to respond to the statement. He considers it a criticism and will study all inputs related to the task of eradicating acts of terrorism.
"We will study it," said Aswin on Wednesday, October 6.
However, Aswin did not elaborate on the follow-up in question. To be sure, Densus 88 thanked Fadli Zon for the information.
"Thanks for the information," said Aswin.
A few days later, the National Police finally gave an official response to the statement from Fadli Zon.
The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, said he would not hear about these things. Densus 88 Anti-terror will continue to be tasked with eradicating acts of terrorism.
"Basically, we are still working. We don't hear such things. We continue to make efforts to (handle) this terrorism," said Ramadhan.
Then, Ramadhan also stated that the existence of Densus 88 Anti-terror was still needed in handling terrorism. Densus 88 also succeeded in deradicalization.
"Densus 88 is an organization under the National Police whose purpose is to carry out prevention activities and take legal action against terrorism crimes," he said.
Detachment 88 efforts were emphasized by the Police not only to take action but even to be involved in the process of deradicalizing terrorism convicts.
"As we have said, where is the deradicalization effort at the Gunung Sindur Prison where several convicts have taken their oath of allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia. This is an effort that has been carried out by Densus 88, it is successful, "said Kombes Ramadhan.
"A prisoner who has taken an oath of allegiance and also after taking an oath to the Republic of Indonesia. This shows that the deradicalization effort carried out by Densus 88 was successful," he continued.
For information, Gerindra Party politician Fadli Zon had expressed his surprise at the progress of Densus 88 which was busy developing an Islamophobic narrative. In fact, the priority of handling terrorists that clearly oppose the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia has never been completely resolved.
"Separatist terrorists who clearly challenge Indonesia should be the priority but cannot be handled. Don't always develop an Islamophobic narrative that can divide the nation," said Fadli through a tweet on his Twitter account, @fadlizon quoted on Wednesday, October 6th.
The tasks of dealing with terrorism, suggested Fadli, should be handed over to the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT). Because there are too many institutions involved in these cases.
"In my opinion, there are too many institutions dealing with terrorism. It should be @BNPTRI," explained the member of Commission I of the DPR RI.
