Four Village Heads In Jember Drug Defendants Sued One Year In Prison
JEMBER - Four village heads (kades) in Jember Regency who were accused of drug cases were sentenced to one year in prison in a follow-up trial held at the Jember District Court, East Java.
The four defendants in the drug case, namely the Head of the Wonojati Village, Jenggawah District with the initials MM; The Head of Tempurejo Village, Tempurejo District with the initials MA; The Head of the Tamansari Village, Wuluhan District with the initials ST; and the Head of Glundengan Village, Wuluhan District with the initials HH.
"They were proven legally and convincingly together to misuse class 1 narcotics, thus violating Article 127 paragraph (1) letter a of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Junto Narcotics Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code," said the Prosecutor. Jember District Attorney General Yuri Andina Putra in a trial at the Jember District Court, quoted by Antara, Monday, October 11.
The reading session with the agenda of prosecuting the four village heads took place twice because the two files were separated or split, but each village head was required to be imprisoned for one year.
"Specifically the inactive Kades defendant Tempurejo MA was charged twice because he was also involved in drug abuse with other files," he said.
The defendant MA had held a shabu-shabu party in two places with different groups, so the person concerned had to undergo two decisions.
Meanwhile, the legal counsel for the defendants SG and HH, Naniek Sugiarti, said that his party would file a defense in the next trial which will be held on Monday, October 18 next week.
"We will ask the panel of judges at the Jember District Court to decide on his client with the lightest sentence possible because the two defendants confessed frankly and promised not to repeat their actions again," he said.
The four defendants attended a follow-up trial with the agenda of reading the demands by the public prosecutor virtually in the Class II-A Jember Penitentiary.
Previously, the ranks of the Sub-Directorate I of the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the East Java Regional Police arrested four individual village heads in Jember Regency for being involved in cases of drug abuse of the type of methamphetamine.
The arrests of the four village heads were carried out by the East Java Regional Police for two days in Jember, namely on Wednesday (9/6) to Thursday (10/6) with the perpetrators arrested in their respective homes.
