Uber Cup: Indonesia Wins 4-1 Over France In Group A Qualifiers

JAKARTA - Women's doubles Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti / Ribka Sugiarto won a tight 23-21, 22-20 to close the Uber Cup Group A qualifying match between Indonesia and France with Indonesia's 4-1 victory.

In the last match at Ceres Arena, Aarhus, Denmark, Monday evening WIB, Siti Fadia/Ribka won with a tight score of 23-21, 22-20 over Marie Batomene/Delphine Delrue.

Launching Antara, the match was tight from the start with the Indonesian pair always leading up to 17-13 points. However, the French doubles managed to turn things around when gaining seven consecutive points to reach game points 20-17.

However, three consecutive points from the Indonesian pair ranked 34th in the world equalized 20-20.

The French pair reached game points again while leading 21-20 but were again denied by Siti Fadia/Ribka who equalized 21-21 then took the next two points to finish the opening game with a 23-21 win.

The second game was tighter with the difference in points between the two players never more than two points adrift. The two took turns leading until the Indonesian pair reached match point 20-19.

The French doubles had equalized 20-20, but the last two points were won by the Indonesian pair to win 22-20.

Previously, the victory of two singles players Gregoria Mariska Tunjung over Marie Batomene 21-18, 21-13, and Putri Kusuma Wardani over Leonice Huet 21-9, 21-8 brought the Red and White Squad to a 2-0 lead.

Followed by the women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Putri Syaikah who beat Margot Lambert/Anne Tran 21-13, 21-10, adding to Indonesia's advantage to 3-0.

However, the singles player Nandini Putri Arumni lost, who was unable to continue the match due to a right knee injury. Arumni lost a three-game battle 12-21, 21-16, 17-20 to Yaelle Hoyaux for over an hour.

Arumni's defeat made Indonesia lead 3-1 over France.
