Illegal Abortion In Mamuju Revealed From Finding Baby's Grave In The Garden, Five People Arrested
MAMUJU - A joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mamuju Police and the Resmob Unit of the West Sulawesi Police's Jatanras Sub-Directorate succeeded in dismantling the abortion case and arresting five suspected perpetrators.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mamuju Police, Adjunct Commissioner of Police Pandu Arief Setiawan, said that the disclosure of the abortion case began with reports of the discovery of a female human fetus buried in a garden in the Padangpanga area, Mamuju District.
"The disclosure of this abortion case began with a public report that found a baby fetus buried in a garden in Padangpanga, Mamuju District, on Tuesday, October 5," said Pandu Arief Setiawan as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 11.
From the report on the findings of the human fetus, Pandu Arief Setiawan continued, a joint team from the Mamuju Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the West Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters Resmob Unit conducted an investigation.
"From the processing of the crime scene (TKP) and examination of the witnesses, it was revealed that the fetus was buried by two young men, one of whom was AA, allegedly the parents of the baby," he said.
"Based on that information, we developed and succeeded in capturing the two men who buried the fetus, namely AA as the parent of the fetus and AD," explained Pandu Arief Setiawan. arrested three other perpetrators, namely SW, the mother of the baby and two women who helped carry out illegal abortions, namely ML and RR.
"The five suspected perpetrators were arrested in three different locations, namely AA and AD were arrested in Topoyo District, Central Mamuju Regency, then SW of the fetal mother was arrested in Polewali Mandar Regency and two others, namely ML and RR were arrested in Mamuju Regency," said Pandu Arief Setiawan. .
From the results of further investigations by the Criminal Investigation Unit, the motive for the abortion was to cover up the shame of SW's pregnancy.
"So, SW and AA are dating and to cover up the shame of SW's pregnancy, AA's boyfriend is looking for someone who can abort the pregnancy, then ML introduces him to a woman who can abort the initials RR," he explained.
"The mode used is to give a number of drugs that are classified, their use is monitored and should be in accordance with the provisions and obtained illegally from RR and ML then given to AA to be taken by SW," explained Pandu Arief Setiawan.
The process of aborting the womb, said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, was carried out at an inn in Mamuju Regency, on Tuesday afternoon, October 5, then on Tuesday afternoon AA and AD, his younger brother, were buried in a garden in Padangpanga, Mamuju District.
From the results of the examination, it was also revealed that RR received a salary of Rp. 4 million for an abortion service, while ML as an intermediary received a salary of Rp. 400 thousand.
The five suspected abortionists, said Pandu Arief Setiawan, have been named suspects by being charged with multiple articles, namely Article 194 of Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion.
The perpetrators were also charged with Article 348 of the Criminal Code, Article 299 paragraphs (1) and (2) of the Criminal Code, Article 346 of the Criminal Code and Article 181 of the Criminal Code with a maximum threat of four years in prison.
The police, said Pandu Arief Setiawan, are still developing the disclosure of the abortion case to find out the origin of the drugs used by the perpetrators to abort the womb.
"We are still developing this case by examining suspects and witnesses," said Pandu Arief Setiawan.
