What Has The Basuki Ministry Done In Manado-Likupang Super Priority Destinations?

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to promote various infrastructure developments in North Sulawesi (Sulut) through the development of Manado - Bitung - Likupang Super Priority Destinations (DPSP), North Sulawesi.

"In the new normal order to live in peace with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government believes that the main economic sector that can rebound quickly is the tourism sector," said Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono.

The Ministry of PUPR has completed several roads in the Manado - Bitung - Likupang DPSP. Preservation of two roads and one bridge, namely the preservation of Jalan Girian (Bitung) – Likupang (Road 46.67 km & Bridge 152.2 km), improvement of Pulisan Beach Road (2.8 km), and replacement of Marinsow Bridge with (13 km) the total length of the road is 46.47 km and the bridge is 165.2 m.

In addition, quoted from the PUPR Ministry website, Basuki also built the Likupang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Roundabout which will later be used as the main gate for the Pulisan Beach Area. The Likupang SEZ roundabout is equipped with bicycle paths, jogging tracks, and parks.

The construction and preservation of the Manado – Bitung – Likupang DPSP access road will speed up the travel time from 1 hour to 40 minutes from Manado to Likupang.

In addition to connectivity, the Ministry of PUPR has also implemented the Self-help Housing Quality Improvement Program to Support Tourism, also known as Tourism Residential Facilities (Sarhunta). In North Sulawesi Province, the Sarhunta Program was implemented at the Manado-Likupang DPSP by renovating and rehabilitating 263 housing units which were converted into houses with business functions in three villages, namely Marinsow, Pulisan, Kinunang and one Kelurahan on Bunaken Island.

These houses can be used as homestays or other tourism supporting businesses.

Homestay design reflects local customs. The design can be modified to be more modern, but does not leave local wisdom as an effort to attract domestic and foreign tourists to stay. Homestays at the Manado-Likupang DPSP have started to be rented at a rate of IDR 200 thousand / night.

The next infrastructure is located in North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, where the Kuwil Kawangkoan Dam is being built. The construction of this dam is part of flood control for Manado City and its surroundings for a flood discharge of 470 cubic meters per second, where Manado City experienced flash floods in 2014. The Kuwil Kawangkoan dam has a capacity of 23.37 million cubic meters and an inundation area of 139 hectares. This dam was built since 2016 at a cost of Rp 1.46 trillion.

Not only infrastructure support for DPSP Manado – Bitung – Likupang and flood control. To help provide fresh water, the PUPR Ministry will also build 6 rainwater reservoirs in 2020 on Bunaken Island, which are spread across Bunaken and Kel. Alung Banua.
