KUPANG - Deputy Regent of East Flores Agustinus Payong Boli, said the security situation on Adonara Island, East Nusa Tenggara, after clashes between residents in Waiwerang Village is now conducive.
"The situation on Adonara Island is conducive and now we are in the process of preparing for peace between the conflicting parties," Agustinus Payong Boli said when contacted from Kupang, reported by Antara, Monday, October 11.
He said this was related to the security and public order situation after the clash between the residents of Narasaosina and Wotan Villages in Waiwerang Village, East Adoanara District, Adonara Island, Thursday, October 7.
Agustinus informed that the security and security situation was now conducive and shops or markets and schools that had previously been closed due to clashes, were operating again.
Currently, he said, the regional government is in the middle of mediating the two groups of residents who are clashing so that they can immediately reconcile.
Agustinus has also visited the two parties directly after the clash in an effort to mediate peace between the perpetrator and the victim.
"We are taking this peace step by using the cultural approach of the Lamaholot tribe with the philosophy of kakan kerun arin baki, which means that we are all brothers and sisters between villages," he said. in other villages.
Agustinus appealed to residents to remain restrained and not to carry out provocation actions that would make the situation escalate again.
"If someone provokes a riot, the police will still take action," he said.
Previously, clashes between residents on Adonara Island resulted in three people being injured, consisting of two members of the National Police each from being hit by arrows and throwing stones and a teenager who was hit by an arrow.
