Van Gaal: It Usually Happens At Barca, When Things Go Bad They Make Foreigners Scapegoats
JAKARTA - Ronald Koeman is having a difficult time at Barcelona. His compatriot, Louis van Gaal did not remain silent in support.
Van Gaal knows what it's like to be criticized at Camp Nou and claims that Barcelona tend to use foreigners as scapegoats when things go bad.
"History repeats itself," he said during a Dutch press conference when asked about criticism of Koeman.
"These are typical things that happen at Barcelona.
"When everything is going well and you make an important contribution, as Frenkie de Jong has done in recent years, then there is nothing to worry about.
"But when things go badly, people at Barcelona always put the spotlight on foreigners. In this case, it was the coach.
"I would advise him (Koeman) not to care too much about it all."
