DKI Jakarta Wins PON Men's Team Badminton Gold From West Java
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta won the men's team badminton gold medal from the defending champion West Java in the 2021 Papua National Sports Week (PON) badminton match, Saturday, October 9.
In the final match which was held at GOR Waringin, Jayapura City, DKI Jakarta narrowly won 3-2 over West Java to ensure DKI's first gold from the Papuan PON badminton branch.
The final between the men's teams of DKI Jakarta and West Java at PON Papua became an ideal duel because both teams came out as group winners in the preliminary phase.
In addition, this final is also a reunion of the residents of the Cipayung National Training Center in a national competition to defend their respective regions.
DKI was left behind by two points after losing to the men's singles and doubles numbers. Christian Adinata lost 21-23, 17-21 to Alvi Wijaya Chairullah.
Meanwhile, the men's doubles Amri Syahnawi / Jeremiah Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan were forced to their knees after a tight duel for one minute 20 seconds against fellow national training partners, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri / Pramudya Kusumawardana which ended 21-19, 21-23, 27-25.
DKI Jakarta was only able to steal points in the third party through the men's singles by Karono who defeated Syabda Perkasa Belawa 21-14, 21-15.
DKKI's second men's doubles, Adnan Maulana/Ghifari Anandaffa Prihardika, equalized 2-2 thanks to their victory over Andika Ramadiansyah/M. Fachrikar P. Mansur 23-21, 21-15.
The match must continue until the last or fifth party to determine the champion of the men's team badminton PON Papua.
Yonathan Ramlie also became the hero of the DKI Jakarta badminton team after recording an easy 21-15, 21-3 victory over Abiyyu Fauzan Majid.
The men's team badminton bronze medal belongs to Central Java and East Java.
Meanwhile in the women's team, DKI Jakarta had to settle for a silver medal after surrendering 0-2 to East Java in the final which ended early.
