Korea Communications Standards Commission Fines CJ ENM

JAKARTA - The Korean Communication Standards Commission or abbreviated as KCSC decided to impose a fine on CJ ENM for the manipulation of voting in a number of Produce 101 competitions.

They consider the case to tarnish the television program that should be educational. The hard work of the contestants who competed in the Produce 101 program was also tarnished by the agency and CJ ENM.

"Broadcasting companies have to look at why their staff are doing this, why other staff are looking in a different direction, and why the corporate culture is asking staff to be quiet in such situations," said a KCSC representative.

They also regretted how CJ ENM only blamed their producers and did not choose to reflect on the performance of the production staff for this event.

In 2019, fans were shocked by the suspicion of Produce cheating in voting. After investigating, the authorities decided to stop Ahn Joo Young from producing.

This cheating that occurred from the first to fourth season made Mnet officially stop the Produce program. However, Mnet remains productive by creating new competition events, one of which is I-LAND.

A CJ ENM representative said, “We will take responsibility as a production company and we are trying to improve. We apologize for making the disappointment. We are sorry."

In May this year, several names from CJ ENM; Ahn Joo Young, Kim Yong Bum, and agency representatives held a hearing regarding this case.
