MEDAN - As the largest city outside Java, Medan is expected to be a home for startups. Medan certainly has potential and a market for startups.

"In addition to its proximity to neighboring countries, another potential that can make Medan the home of a startup is the diversity that the City of Medan has. This means that this diversity has a higher selling value," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution, quoted from a statement from the Medan City Government Kominfo Service, Friday, October 8th.

According to Bobby Nasution, this activity can be an atmosphere for business actors or startups regarding digitalization which certainly has a good impact on economic activities and has benefits.

Because currently most of the younger generation who want to develop a business, especially in the field of digitalization, will first move from Medan. This means that they are young startups assessing that in Medan they are underdeveloped.

"Here HUB.ID can play a role and collaborate with stakeholders to be able to provide assistance to startups to a high level. That way startups who want to advance to class no longer need to leave Medan," continued Bobby Nasution.

President Jokowi's son-in-law is also the responsibility of the Medan City Government. Therefore, in the future Pemo Medan will also provide assistance to startups or business actors in the field of digitalization.

"We hope that startups outside Java, if they want to advance to class, must come to Medan. Therefore, we form the atmosphere and ecosystem through HUB.ID and collaboration between stakeholders," said Bobby Nasution.

Through activities held by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics through the HUB.ID program, the Medan City Government encourages the development of startups or business actors in the digitalization sector, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We appreciate and support the HUB.ID program to help and develop startups in the city of Medan," said Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Ministry for Communications and Informatics Business Match Making Luat Sihombing explained that efforts to increase the scale of digital startup businesses were carried out by the Ministry of Communication and Information by facilitating meetings of leading digital startups in Indonesia with potential investors virtually via HUB.ID.

This program is a continuation of the Startup Studio and 1000 Digital Startup Programs so that digital startups can increase business growth.
