Police Shoot School Laptop Thief In Asahan, North Sumatra
MEDAN - Personnel from the Jatanras Criminal Investigation Unit of the Asahan Police, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) arrested two perpetrators of theft of laptops in the school environment with the initials BIS (24) and DJ (24), one of whom was shot for resisting.
"The BIS perpetrator had to be paralyzed by being shot in the leg because he fought back which endangered the officers when they were about to be taken into custody," said Asahan Police Chief AKBP Putu Yudha Prawira, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 8.
He explained that the arrests of the two perpetrators were based on reports received by his party regarding the theft of a laptop unit at SMAN 1 Kisaran on Friday, September 3.
The police then conducted an investigation and received information that a man was selling a laptop that was allegedly stolen.
The officer then carried out an under cover buy or disguised and made a transaction with the suspect on Thursday, October 7th.
"At around 21.00 WIB, our officers managed to secure the suspect BIS. However, there was resistance, so we took decisive action measured," he said.
From the results of the interrogation, the suspect BIS admitted to committing the theft with the suspect DJ. The officers gave chase and managed to secure the suspect DJ without a fight.
From the two suspects, officers confiscated evidence in the form of a silver HP laptop, a black Acer laptop, and two laptop chargers.
"To account for the actions of the two perpetrators, we also impose Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of seven years in prison," he said.
