Camavinga: Benzema Made Me Feel Comfortable At Real Madrid
JAKARTA - Eduardo Camavinga has revealed that Karim Benzema helped him adapt to his new environment at Real Madrid, following his summer move from Rennes.
The 18-year-old Frenchman said he was welcomed by all Real Madrid players. However, he explains why he maintains a closer relationship with his compatriot.
"I was very surprised, especially with Benzema, because they are very humble players," Camavinga said during a press conference with France Under-21s reported by MARCA.
"(Benzema) immediately put me at ease. They even started joking with me, even though I don't speak Spanish. Both (Luka) Modric and Benzema gave me different names (laughs).
"It's a secret, I won't say (the name), but I'm already integrated (into the team).
"And then we could speak in French (with Benzema). I sat next to him at the table. He told me that if I needed anything, I should tell him."
Camavinga went on to reveal the main differences between La Liga and Ligue 1 before stressing that being recalled to the French senior team was one of his main goals.
"I love the Spanish league," added Camavinga.
"This league is less physically demanding than the French league. Regarding the French team, my role with the U21s hasn't changed at all, I'm still the same player.
"They will not look at me with a magnifying glass because I have signed for Real Madrid. I can continue to contribute my experience to the U21s. But it is clear that my goal is to return to the senior team."
