When Erick Thohir Wants To Take Part In The Presidential Election: PPP Observes, Golkar Opens With Pleasure
JAKARTA - SOE Minister Erick Thohir is a new potential figure who has the opportunity to run in the 2024 presidential election. Erick's electability has also recently increased as a presidential candidate. However, Erick must find a political vehicle if he wants to advance in the five-year contest.
Responding to rumors that Erick was ready to run for the presidential election, the United Development Party (PPP) said it opened the door wide to carry presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election from outside the party.
In fact, the Kaaba party is observing potential candidates, including Erick Thohir.
"And we are currently keeping an eye on a number of figures including those in the cabinet such as Erick Thohir, Sandiaga Uno, Mahfud MD, Tito Karnavian, Budi Gunawan, in addition to the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas who is the general chairman of PPP himself," said PPP Deputy General Chair Arsul Sani to VOI, Thursday, October 7th.
In addition to the ministers who are included in the presidential candidate exchange, PPP also looks at a number of names of regional heads. The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, is no exception.
"So they are open to being carried by PPP. Likewise for governors such as Khofifah, Anies Baswedan, Ridwan Kamil, Ganjar Pranowo," explained the chairman of the PPP faction in the DPR.
PPP views Erick Thohir as a qualified potential figure to be featured in the 2024 presidential election.
"When asked about Pak Erick Thohir, PPP sees him as one of the potential figures to be featured," said Arsul.
It's just that, he said, PPP has not been able to determine a name to be the presidential candidate it supports. Because the 2024 presidential election is still running for 2-3 years. "Just identification, not yet determined. It's still a long time for the election," said Arsul.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party's DPP Korbid for Election Winning, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, said his party invited Erick Tohir to run in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. According to him, the nomination is very reasonable. "No one forbids us, we all have the right to vote and be elected. So everyone who feels called and is ready to become anything including a presidential or vice presidential candidate is the constitutional right of each Indonesian citizen. So that's something that's normal," said Doli in the building. DPR, Thursday, October 7th.
However, regarding the candidacy of Golkar, said Doli, his party has already decided on the General Chairperson, Airlangga Hartarto.
"We already have a general chairman, Pak Airlangga Hartarto," he said. Regarding the vice presidential candidate, he continued, the new Golkar Party will build a coalition with anyone.
"Then the package with whom the vice presidential candidate is, to this day Golkar is still open to establishing communication with various political forces to build a joint coalition and also to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates," explained the Chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives.
Including, he added, SOE Minister Erick Tohir. As long as Erick has the same platform and vision and mission as Golkar, the party wants to open the door to join.
"If our presidential candidate already has Airlangga, if you want to join Golkar, please go ahead. Golkar is open, so anyone who feels they have the same platform is a religious nationalist. We also have a work doctrine on how to carry out the development process for the people and all kinds of things. have the same platform and vision, we are open to accept it with pleasure," concluded Doli.
