Joe Biden Quotes The Hadith Of The Prophet Muhammad And Promises To Bring A More Muslim-friendly Life In The US
JAKARTA - The candidate for President of the United States (US) Joe Biden quoted the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in a virtual campaign entitled Million Muslim Votes. He also promised to provide a better living space for Muslims.
In a campaign held by Emgage Action, the largest Muslim organization in the US, Biden satirized the policies of his rival, Donald Trump, who often discredited US Muslims. The Democratic candidate has also cited the resentment that Trump spreads as a root cause of social divisions in the US.
"One of the things I think is important, I hope we teach more in our schools about the Islamic faith," said Biden, quoted by Yeni Safak, Wednesday, July 22.
Biden continued his speech by quoting the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad, the greatest role model of Muslims. "A hadith from the Prophet Muhammad instructed, 'Whoever among you sees a mistake, let him change it with his hands. If he is unable, then with his tongue. If he cannot, then with his heart.' ''
Biden also interpreted the hadith as an indication that persistence and conviction of the heart are the most important things in life, especially in the search for truth. Biden also called Islam a great teaching.
Promises to US MuslimsFurthermore, Biden promised to remove travel restrictions for Muslims to the US, including the travel of Muslims from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, North Korea, to Venezuela. "If I have the honor of being president, I will end the Muslim ban on day one. Day one!" he exclaimed.
All of these restrictions were previously imposed by Trump. Biden criticized him harshly, calling Trump's policies abominable.
Biden also promised to raise Muslims into his government. As much as possible, he will also provide broad political space at the congress for the discussion of the Racial Crime Act.
"The Muslim community was the first to feel Donald Trump's attack ... With his heinous Muslim ban," said Biden.
