The extension policy is stated in the Makassar Mayor's Circular (SE) number: 443.01/5.17/S.Edar/Kesbangpol/X/2021 regarding the extension of restrictions on community activities during the COVID-19 period.
"The PPKM in Makassar is still at level 2. If we look at the data and the transmission curve, we should have dropped to level 1," said Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 6.
The policy to extend PPKM Level 2 and issue a circular letter is based on a follow-up to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 48 of 2021.
Makassar Mayor, who is familiarly called Danny Pomanto, admitted that the transmission rate of COVID-19 in Makassar was only around a dozen and for almost two weeks the transmission rate did not exceed 20 cases for the daily average.

Some of the rules in PPKM are in accordance with the circular, including, the implementation of teaching and learning activities following the technical arrangements of the ministry of education, culture, research, and technology.
