Freshwater Fish Dies In Nagan Raya Aceh, DLHK Explores The Cause
NAGAN RAYA - The Department of Environment and Hygiene (DLHK) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, is investigating the cause of the death of fish in the river which is suspected to be related to environmental pollution in plantations in Alue Geutah Village, Darul Makmur District.
"We have taken water samples at the location of the incident, we have submitted the water samples to the Aceh Industrial Standardization and Research Agency (Baristand)," said Acting Head of the Environmental and Hygiene Service (DLHK) Nagan Raya Jufrizal as quoted by Antara. , Wednesday, October 6th.
Jufrizal said the local government is still waiting for the results of the inspection of the water sample that has been submitted to Baristand Aceh, to determine whether the sample contains waste or not.
After the water samples that were examined arrived, he said, DLHK Nagan Raya would determine the next steps.
According to Jufrizal, the number of freshwater fish that died around the river in Alue Geutah Village, Darul Makmur District, Nagan Raya Regency, was suspected to be due to waste disposal.
However, the local government has so far not been able to confirm whether the fish died due to indications of environmental pollution or not, because they are still waiting for laboratory results.
Meanwhile, the sample of fish that died at the scene, said Jufrizal, had been submitted to the Marine and Fisheries Service of Nagan Raya, to check whether the dead fish were fit for consumption or not.
"After the laboratory results are available, the local government will take a stand on this issue," said Jufrizal.
