Magnitude 5.5 Earthquake Shakes Japan's Miyazaki, No Tsunami Warning
JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 struck Miyazaki Prefecture in Japan on Wednesday, October 6, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
The earthquake occurred at around 5:13 pm local time. The coordinates of the earthquake were at 31.3 north latitude and 131.5 east latitude with a depth of 40 km.
In parts of Miyazaki Prefecture, the quake was recorded as 4 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale, which peaked at 7.
So far no tsunami warning has been issued by the Japanese authorities.
