Kopo Flyover Can Break Congestion, Only Just Finished February Next Year

JAKARTA - Congestion on the Soekarno-Hatta Highway, Bandung City, connecting Bandung City and Bandung Regency will be reduced by the presence of the Kopo Flyover. But the residents of Bandung still have to be patient because it will only be next year that the construction will be completed.

"We will build flyovers and underpasses to pedestrian bridges (JPOs) including repairing the surrounding environmental roads," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in a written statement, Wednesday, October 6.

West Java 4.5 Commitment Making Officer (PPK) Heri Wahyu Wibowo said the location of the Kopo flyover passes through the intersection of a plot of Kopo highway and the Cibaduyut intersection on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta. The target can be completed faster than the initial plan.

"Currently, the physical progress has reached 42.91 percent and the work in the field has entered the stage of lifting the concrete girder, and until Thursday, September 30, 2021, it has succeeded in lifting and installing 9 girders," explained Heri.

"The work package worth Rp288 billion has been started since November 13, 2020 and is scheduled to be completed on November 3, 2022. Looking at the current progress for the construction of the flyover structure, it may be completed in February next year," he added.

Heri Wahyu Wibowo added, to minimize work disruptions to traffic flow around the construction site, his party continues to coordinate with the Traffic Corps and the local Transportation Service. In addition to carrying out traffic engineering, West Java PPK 4.5 is also widening the two-lane road.

"Soekarno-Hatta Road, which is the location of the construction work, has six lanes, for this work it uses three lanes, but before the work is carried out we have widened the two-lane road so that it is hoped that it will reduce disruption to traffic flow," he explained.

The Soekarno-Hatta road in the Kopo area is the main commuter route for the Cimahi-Bandung area. In addition, in this area there are also two toll access roads, namely the Kopo Toll Road and the Pasir Koja Toll Road. For this reason, Soekarno-Hatta road often experiences traffic jams. The existence of the Kopo flyover is expected to reduce the traffic density of vehicles.

To minimize disturbance to the surroundings, said Heri Wahyu Wibowo, the construction of the flyover which has two spans of 46 meters and 43 meters also uses a Hydraulic Static Pile Driver (HSPD).

"This is a static type of piling tool where the way it works is by pressing, not hitting, so it reduces vibration and sound (noise) in its work," he explained.

The Kopo Flyover uses two types of precast concrete beams, namely PCI girder and PCU girder. The number of PCI girders used is 171 units with a weight of 85 tons each. As for the PCU girder used there are 12 units weighing up to 200 tons each.
