Bioavtur Flight Test Successful, Airlangga Brings Good News: Indonesia Can Use Domestic Resources
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) together with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) have succeeded in producing biofuel with avtur or bioavtur by mixing 2.4 percent of palm kernel oil or refined bleached degummed palm kernel oil (RBDPKO) using a red and white catalyst. made by ITB, at Pertamina's Cilacap Refinery. The bioavtur is called Jet Avtur 2.4 (J2.4).
The mixture of biofuel and avtur has been tested using a C235-220 FTB aircraft belonging to PT Dirgantara Indonesia from Bandung to Jakarta.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the government appreciates the success of the nation's children in making J2.4 bioavtur which has been tested by flight with the C235-220 aircraft. According to Airlangga, the success of the trial is proof that Indonesia can use domestic resources.
"The success of the trial gives confidence that Indonesia's ability to use domestic resources as well as the ability of science and technology. Because Indonesia as the largest producer of course needs to innovate in the use of palm oil," he said during the successful ceremonial flight test of J2.4 fuel. online, Wednesday 6 October 2021.
Airlangga said that J2.4 is included in the development of biodiesel, bioavtur and also continues the J100 program. As an effort to transition fossil energy to more environmentally friendly energy. Moreover, Indonesia has also committed to reducing greenhouse gases by 29 percent with its own efforts and 41 percent with international support.
"The market share of J2.4 is estimated to reach Rp1.1 trillion," he said.
Furthermore, Airlangga said that the government had provided a super deduction tax for industries involved in implementing programs in accordance with applicable regulations.
"This can get tax innovations for sponsoring corporations, whether it's PT DI or Pertamina depending on the leading sector and the government can provide up to 300 percent. Therefore, clearing by Brin (National Research and Innovation Agency)," he said.
According to Airlangga, the success of the 'Red and White' catalyst and the success of the flight test is a good momentum for Indonesia. He also hopes that J2.4 is the first step in increasing the contribution of biofuels to air transportation.
