18 Crocodiles Transported By BKSDA, Captive In Muarojambi Closed By Police
JAMBI - Sungai Gelam Police closed and installed a police line at the crocodile breeding location in Talang Kerinci Village, Muarojambi Regency, Jambi, to anticipate unwanted events.
The head of the Sungai Gelam police station, Ipda Candra, said police lines were installed so that local people would not enter the crocodile breeding area.
The police line was given because it was feared if there were still crocodiles left or the rest of the crocodile eggs were still inside because the crocodile captivity had not been taken care of for a long time even though the crocodiles had been moved by the Jambi BKSDA team.
"It is very likely that all the crocodiles in captivity have all been caught and temporarily moved to a safe location, but due to the current position of the pool water in a cloudy condition, we have not dared to confirm that all of the crocodiles here have been evacuated," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 6. .
There were 18 live crocodiles removed and two dead crocodiles were found. "Meanwhile, we moved three crocodiles that were outside captivity or escaped from captivity, causing panic among residents around the captivity and along the local river," continued the police chief.
The owner of the crocodile farm has been called by the police but did not show up. Officers may come to his house while for the licensing status of crocodile breeding in Sungai Gelam. "For the permit is dead or what, the BKSDA, who knows about it and is obliged to answer," he said.
Officers will coordinate with the local village head and put up warning signs. The sign was installed because it is not certain whether there are still crocodiles or if they have been caught.
