After Stepping Down From His Position, Anies Baswedan Becomes A Free Person And Plans To Travel Around Indonesia

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that he has plans to travel around Indonesia after his tenure in Jakarta has ended in October 2022.

This he conveyed during a conversation at the PAN Workshop event, some time ago, which was broadcast on YouTube PAN TV.

"What I have in mind is that this (position) has been completed. After that, I became a free person. While I was a free person, I enjoyed traveling everywhere. Yesterday, I was in prison for five years. Just go around, everywhere in Indonesia," said Anies, quoted on Wednesday, October 6.

Anies prepared this trip plan due to the fact that the schedule for the next DKI gubernatorial election will be held in 2024, simultaneously in the national election. In fact, if the DKI Regional Head Elections are continued in 2022, Anies is already preparing to run for re-election.

The initial plan was that Anies focused on managing the capital city for four years. Then, in his fifth year, he began to prepare his candidacy for governor of DKI until the campaign.

"So, in Jakarta for 3 years or 4 years now, I will concentrate on that. In the past, the plan was for the fifth year to prepare for the elections," said Anies.

"It turns out that there won't be an election next year. Because there's no election, so that's it. We'll just keep working like that. Right, there won't be a campaign next year," he continued.

At the PAN event, there were shouts of 'Anies 2024' from PAN cadres. Anies was invited to be one of the speakers in the PAN workshop.

"I received an invitation to speak at this national workshop. Later in the session this morning," said Anies in Nusa Dua, Bali, Monday, October 4. But Anies did not comment when asked to shout "Anies 2024".

Chairman of PAN Zulkifli Hasan explained about the presence of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in Bali, Zulkifli said Anies was indeed a resource person.

Zulkifli said, PAN also invited East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil.

"So, the Governor of Java, who we support, we invite. However, Mr. Ganjar seems unable to attend, Mr. Anis, Ms. Khofifah, Mr. Ridwal Kamil will also come tomorrow, the Minister of SOEs will come," said Zulkifli.
