This meeting had to be rescheduled because the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, was summoned by President Joko Widodo for a limited meeting at the Palace. "The Minister of Home Affairs has a meeting at the Palace and it cannot be abandoned," said Deputy Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, Wednesday, October 6. .
With this postponement, Saan said, a decision on the 2024 election voting day would be taken after the recess period.
"It is possible that the recess is over, because tomorrow we have the closing of the trial period," explained the NasDem legislator.
Saan said that the political party leaders can discuss the timing of the 2024 General Election. Even the members of Commission II, he said, would convey and communicate the matters that had been discussed with the leaders of their respective political parties.
"We also want to give the KPU another chance to exercise. Not only the KPU but also other organizers, Bawaslu and DKPP," he explained.
Therefore, Commission II of the House of Representatives continues to hold internal meetings between the head of the Commission and the head of the commission.
Saan said, Commission II also wants to consult with the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court regarding the General Election Results Dispute (PHPU).
"Especially related to the deadline for dispute resolution," said Saan Mustopa.
It is known that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that the government proposed that the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) and General Election (Election) take place on May 15. The government's proposal is different from the General Election Commission (KPU). who proposed that the voting day of the 2024 General Election fall on February 21, 2024.
