First Day Of Pool Diving, East Java Athletes Break One PON Record
JAKARTA - Athlete from East Java, Vania Elvira Elent Rahmadani, broke the record in the Papua National Sports Week (PON) for the women's 400-meter surface swimming pool.
In the race which took place at the Kampung Harapan Aquatic Arena, Jayapura Regency, Vania carved the best time of 3 minutes 29.07 seconds.
Launching Antara, this result broke the previous PON record made by DKI Jakarta athlete Reinhard Tomel at the 2016 PON event in West Java with a record time of 3 minutes 30.16 seconds.
With this result, Vania made the East Java gold medal coffers increase in the biggest sporting event in Indonesia.
Vania managed to beat Oza Feby Mulyani from West Java. He came home with a silver medal after recording a time of 3 minutes 31.59 seconds.
While the bronze medal was won by the representative of DKI Jakarta, Sahla Hersa Zabrina, who made a time of 3 minutes 45.63 seconds.
On the first day of swimming, East Java dominated by winning four of the six gold medals contested.
Apart from Vania, another East Java athlete who won gold today was Bima Dea Sakti Antono who took part in the men's 400 meter surface.
