76th Anniversary, PDIP Legislator: We Admit The Role Of The TNI In The Field Is Very Big

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Commission I Effendi Simbolon appreciates the role of the TNI in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as maintaining the defense and sovereignty of Indonesia's territory on the 76th anniversary of today, Tuesday, October 5.

"We are grateful that the TNI has turned 76 today. We appreciate all the duties and roles carried out by the TNI as an institution and its soldiers in carrying out their main tasks and assistance tasks throughout the country and region," said Effendi, Tuesday, October 5. According to him, President Jokowi's remarks at the 76th Anniversary of the TNI can be interpreted as a hope towards a more professional, stronger TNI, in the region and in the eyes of the world.

"In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, the role of the TNI is very important, we recognize that TNI soldiers in the field are very large. We are also sometimes concerned that the government's attention is sometimes not in line with the role assigned by the TNI soldiers," said the PDIP politician. Previously, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi gave a mandate at a ceremony to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the TNI which was held in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

In his mandate, Jokowi reminded that currently, Indonesia is still in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"If it is likened to a war, fighting COVID-19 now is like a protracted war. A war that is very draining, mentally and with fighting spirit," said Jokowi in his mandate, Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

He also said the fight against COVID-19 requires vigilance, speed, synergy, and the use of science and technology. In this regard, the TNI has played a major role in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

"The TNI, which always shows professionalism in every assignment, the ability per person, the ability of the unit, the use of technology and science, including defense equipment, is used and deployed in every task given," said Jokowi.
