TNI's 76th Anniversary, Jokowi: Success In Overcoming The Pandemic Can't Be Apart From The Role Of The TNI

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) led a ceremony to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of the TNI at the Merdeka Palace. This ceremony was carried out in a limited manner with the implementation of complete health protocols.

In his address, President Jokowi said the people and the state would give the highest appreciation to the ranks of the TNI who have always been the main guardians of the nation's sovereignty. Not only that, he said that the TNI has always shown its professionalism in every assignment given.

"Individual capabilities, the ability of units to utilize science and technology, including defense equipment, have been used and deployed in carrying out every task given," Jokowi said in his mandate as a ceremony inspector as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Tuesday, October 5.

For this reason, Jokowi later said that Indonesia's success in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic could not be separated from the participation of the TNI.

"Our success in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be separated from the great role of the TNI," he emphasized. "If it is likened to a war, fighting the COVID-19 virus at this time is like a protracted war, a war that is very draining, draining the mind, mental, and fighting spirit," he said.

So that vigilance, speed, and use of technology are needed to fight against the virus.

According to the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube video, the ceremony was held at the Merdeka Palace courtyard. The event was attended by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, KSAD General Andika Perkasa, KSAL Admiral Yudo Margono, and KSAU Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo.

The event began with singing the anthem Indonesia Raya and continued with a moment of silence. Next, the soldiers' representatives read the Sapta Marga in front of President Jokowi.
