PON Papua Badminton Competition Starts Rolling Today

JAKARTA - The XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) today, Tuesday, will start competing in badminton. The match was held at GOR Waringin, Jayapura City.

Quoted from Antara from the official website of PON Papua, the first day of the badminton match will be opened with the preliminary round for the men's and women's team numbers.

The first match will be a men's team match between West Java and Papua starting at 09.00 WIT.

At the same time, the Central Java men's team will also face West Papua. Meanwhile, in the women's team elimination, DKI Jakarta is waiting for Bengkulu and Papua to meet with North Maluku.

PON Papua competes in two categories, namely teams and individuals.

In the men's team, there will be five matches, with details of three men's singles and two men's doubles. While in the women's team there are only three, namely two women's singles and one women's doubles.

There are 12 teams in the men's and women's team numbers which are divided into four pools. The match will use a half competition system from each pool, and only the group winners are entitled to advance to the semifinals.

The team matches will take place on October 5-9, while the individual events will take place on October 10-13.

The Papua PON badminton branch competed for seven gold medals from the men's and women's team numbers, men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
