Remind Regional Heads In Bali To Prevent Corruption, KPK Deputy Chair: It's Not A Happy Thing If We Handle It Ladies And Gentlemen
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata reminded regional heads in Bali to prevent corruption in their regions. Alexander asks them to commit to manage the government well.
This was conveyed at the Integrated Corruption Eradication Coordination Meeting with all regional heads, DPRD chairman, PT PLN Directors, Inspector General of ATR/BPN, Head of Regional Office and Head of BPN, Forkompimda of Bali Province, Management of Anti-Corruption Counseling (PAKSI) and Management of the Regional Advocacy Committee ( KAD) Bali at Wisma Sabha Bali Governor's Office, Monday, October 4.
"It's not something that makes us happy if we have to deal with regional heads when they have to take action. For that, we ask for your commitment to continue to make efforts to eradicate corruption," Alexander said as quoted from his written statement.
In addition, Alexander also mentioned heads of state to manage assets belonging to the regional government and BUMN in the region well. According to Alexander, if this is not done, it can cause potential losses to the state.
"Regarding asset management, one of the things the KPK has done is to encourage asset certification, both in local governments and in state-owned enterprises. Local government lands are mostly in the city and if we don't manage it properly, the potential for loss is tremendous," he said.
He ensured that the KPK will continue to work optimally in carrying out the mandate of the law. Not only that, the anti-corruption commission emphasized that it is ready to facilitate and support corruption prevention efforts that can encourage the strengthening of good local governance.
"KPK will always work professionally accompanying all regional heads," said Alexander.
Meanwhile, Bali Governor Wayan Koster conveyed that his staff was committed to implementing a corruption eradication program in Bali. This, he said, was marked by the seriousness of his staff in implementing all areas of intervention that were summarized in the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) which was encouraged by the KPK.
Wayan Koster said the MCP achievement in 2020 was good, which was 88.40 percent. "Indeed it is good but there is always room for improvement. Apart from these efforts, on this occasion, I will strengthen the Anti-Corruption Extension Forum which will be able to synergize with the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) and other agencies in carrying out corruption prevention measures through socialization, technical guidance, and training," he said.
In addition, Wayan Koster also confirmed the management of KAD Bali. In an effort to prevent corruption in the private sector, the KPK encourages the establishment of KAD in each province as a communication forum that facilitates business actors with the government as a regulator.
On the same occasion, the Commitment to the Integrated Corruption Eradication Program was also signed by all regional heads and the chairman of the DPRD in the Bali region. This is done because eradicating corruption requires good synergy in the functions of the executive, legislature, and the participation of all elements of society.
